I agree with the idea that the beauty of photography is both a “blessing” and a “curse” because it is everywhere. I think the way that people choose to use a camera in a world where a photo is everywhere is fascinating . How do you do it? With just a click of a button. A living breathing atmosphere is now as flattened and as non living as can be because of a click of a shutter. But is that what photography does? Literally yes, but what is also so intriguing is this flattened world can still have the same impact it had while the photographer was in front of it. As photographers our eye is a little more trained to organize the world differently then everyone else. I also believe that over the years and with advances in technology photography has definitely become a spectrum for digital and printed visual art.

Comparative Perspective

Akhira and Christopher: For the remainder of the semester we would like to explore and compare our everyday point of view ranging from artistic process to an everyday commute. We have also decided on using video to step away from photography to explore the other mediums of media. Even though the vids playing are two separate lifestyles the music playing in the underlying background is agreed on by both of us to have something that ties both videos together .

This week we started out with a couple of videos including what a typical commute in New York is like for us as well as a couple of videos from the summer.
